Workshop Coordinators at CCNY
At The City College of New York, a coordinator is assigned to supervise, coordinate and monitor the workshop leaders' work.  Coordinators are the people who provide the communication between the instructor and the workshop leaders.
The "Coordinator of the Coordinators" - the Chemistry Department Workshop Coordinator at CCNY, is Atia Syed.

Time Commitments and Duties of a Workshop Coordinator at CCNY*
Weekly Workshop Sessions:
Weekly preparation meetings for workshop are held every Thursday during club hours (12:00-2:00 PM).  Each coordinator is in charge of a group of leaders (approximately 10).  During this meeting the coordinators address any difficulties that the leaders might have had in workshop - difficulties that can vary from academics to behavioral problems in workshop.  These problems are then discussed with the group and many times the leaders themselves come up with the best solutions.
Then the leaders work on the material that they need to cover in the upcoming workshop.  The coordinators model the workshop as they become the "workshop leaders" and the leaders become the students.  The problems that the leaders work on have been selected by the instructor and the workshop coordinator.  The coordinator makes sure that the material covered in workshop is at the same pace with the lecture.
During the remaining of the time leaders grade quizzes, check their students' attendance, etc, and report these to their coordinator.
Other Weekly Duties*:
- Coordinators make sure that they meet with the course instructor at least once a week (either during the Workshop Preparation Session or some other time).
- Coordinators prepare attendance sheets for their leaders, record grades, prepare quizzes and handouts.
- Coordinators take attendance of the leaders during the weekly Workshop Preparation Session.

*Depending on the instructor, or on the class itself (whether it is General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, etc), these duties may vary.
