ABOUT THE SCIENCE COMPUTING

The mission of the Science Computing Services is to provide technical support and leadership for computing activities in the Division of Science, and to develop and provide computing resources and services in consultation and collaboration with other computer service departments at City College.
Following are some of the responsibilities of the Science Computing Services:
- administer central unix servers
- administer email services
- develop and administer web services and web site
- maintain productivity applications and programming tools on central multi-user server
- manage data network in Marshak Science Building
- configure end-user computers to access the network
- administer computers in designated computer teaching rooms; administer related file servers
- provide first-level technical troubleshooting (diagnose problems; recommend fixes; assist as resources permit)
- consult & advise on wide range of computer issues
