Libraries

The City College Science and Engineering Library has books in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering, and Biology. It has a growing collection of text reference material and good coverage of current published journals.

Every academic library has difficulty keeping up with the ongoing explosion in physics literature. New York City's immense library resources, including libraries at other City University of New York campuses, are thus a great asset. The complete CUNY library system, to which our students have easy access, has more than 3,500,000 volumes and many periodicals in a variety of languages.

Computer terminals in the Science and Engineering Library enable access to the on-line catalog of the entire CUNY library system. That catalog is also available on the Internet so faculty members and students can locate library items using office and home computers. Reference librarians can perform computerized literature searches of major physics and chemistry databases, such as INSPEC. Furthermore, the library has a local network of computers connected to a CD-ROM server, allowing various current databases, such as CURRENT CONTENTS, to be rapidly searched.

Fax facilities and other mechanisms in the library permit rapid document exchange with other libraries.
