High School W.O. R. M. Program

Worm Opportunity for Research and Mentoring

The Li Lab at the City College of New York offers opportunities for highly motivated high school students who look to enrich their science education. The students will have hands-on training in molecular biological and genetic techniques that are used frequently in the lab. The program allows students to work closely with the research team who are using the genetic model system, the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans on two projects: (1) to examine genes implicated in the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease and (2) to understand how different chemicals affect the behavior of an organism.

Priority will be given to students interested in pursuing the project during the school year as a Siemens or Intel Westinghouse science project.
