What to Study

Molecular Biophysics uses techniques from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering to understand the structure and function of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, biopolyesters.

At CUNY faculty work on determining the molecular structure of biomolecules using solid & solution state NMR; on computational analysis of proteins; on the role of lipids in protein function in vivo; on protein folding; on membrane transport and bioenergetics, and on surface properties of cell and plant membranes.

We explore problems in biomedical and agricultural science,
bioengineering and in basic science.
